Since Carbon nanotubes was discovered in 1991, field emission field has been the focus of the researches in the field. In recent years, sample devices of Cathode Field Emission, which are made of Carbon nanotubes, have been produced in Motorola Corp., Sony Corp. and so on. Carbon nanotubes Field Emission's low Primary voltage and threshold voltage result in its low consumption. This is why Carbon nanotubes as Cathode Field Emission materials are more advantageous than other materials.The thesis starts with the history of the development of the emission structure of field emission display whose cathode materials are carbon nanotubes and the discovering of Carbon nanotubes. Thereafter, it introduces Carbon nanotubes structure, its growth principle, the traditional technology of producing and investigating Carbon nanotubes. In process of experiment, we used electrochemical deposition to deposit Carbon nanotubes on AAO templates and investigate the result, and to deposit Carbon nanotubes on AAO templates whose impediments were deprived of and investigate the result. Then we test field emission characterisitics. To explicate the experiment result, we simulated and analyzed electronic field between AAO templates and graphite electrode. Meanwhile, we used chemical vapor deposition to deposit Carbon nanotubes on AAO templates and investigate the result. Then we test the sample's field emission characteristics. In the end, we compared the two approaches and their FE characteristics and commented on them.
