Nowadays information has become an important fortune and resource of every department. It is crucial to the survival and development of a company or an organization to build an information system satisfying the information processing needs of every department. Therefore, database technology, as the kernel and basic of information systems, is applied more and more widely. From small-scale transaction processing system to large-scale information system, from online transaction processing to online analysis processing, from MIS to CAD/CAM, CIMS, GIS etc, more and more new areas have adopted database to store and process their information. The subject of this thesis is the application of database technology in automobile weighing management information system. Weighing management system is a part of the automation management system in the company, which can improve weighing efficiency obviously. The center of the whole system is two database servers: hot standby backup;and the whole weighing procedure is finished through network operation. All of the functions, such as remote management, data collection, online net weight calculating, report forms making etc, are realized effectively, so efficiency is improved, time is saved and the automation procedure of the management in the company is promoted.Database system is the center of the whole system, which decides whether the whole system can run steadily. The product-Oracle 9i of Oracle? Company are adopted as hot standby back-up databases, running uninterruptedly on two servers. In the automobile weighing system database servers are hot redundant backup and MySQL is installed on one of the PC clients in neighboring weighing rooms so as to increase system reliability. The system overall structure is a combination of C/S and B/S modes. All of the clients connect to the HTTP server and SQL server through the intranet of the company. The data collected by clients are stored at database server;and the data needed by clients are queried from database server.
