The Research On Shunt Active Power Filter

With the development of power electronics, nonlinear loads are widely used in the power system, which brings about a serious of problems on system operation. The most important is harmonics pollution. Active power filter is an electronic power equipment which can compenasate varied harmonics and reactive power dynamically. The use of active power filter is a valid way to restrain harmonics and compensate reactive power at present.The paper discusses the basic principle of active power filter and its configure overall, then disucusses harmonics detecting methods , controlling methods, designing the main circuit and other respects in detail. On the base of these, the MATLAB models of shunt active power filter are established and research is doesed. In the research, what is importantly discussed is the influence of the lowpass filter and comparation. The simulation results are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the shunt active power filter.
