With the development of the power electronics, power electronic equipments have been used in industry applications then ever. The pollution caused by the power electronic equipments in power system is getting serious nowadays; Active Power Filter (APF) is a good method for real-time harmonic elimination which has been developed since 1980's .The study on APF has become a hot research field. The development, classification and the principle of the active power filters are introduced. The p-q and ip-iq harmonic current detection which are base on instantaneous reactive power theory have been analyzed, the simulation is made by using MATLAB. The hysteretic loop comparator control method and the triangular wave comparison control method have been analyzed in detail. The simulation and comparison is made. Based on the theoretical analysis and simulated research, the shunt active power filter on TMS320LF2812 has been designed, meanwhile the software and hardware have been introduced in detail The digital signal processor TMS320LF2812 is used in the control unit. The circuit of voltage zero-detect and the circuit of sampling signal pre-processing are designed. MOSFET was selected as the switch device and the power supply circuit is designed then. As for software, The C language is used to compile program to achieve sampling clock control, the flowchart of master program, harmonic current calculation and PWM have been compiled.Based on the design of the hardware circuit and control software above, the experimental APF device has been developed. The simulation for shunt active power filter system has been made, and initial experiment research on the shunt active power filter has been done.
