Study On The Articles Related To The Construction Of Democratic Politics In The Journal Of The Red Flag And Qiu Shi Since Reform And Opening Up

Since the 1990s, China has entered a period of economic system transitionand a great change in society. And there have been continuous risks and challengesfrom home and abroad, especially at present, under the pounding and impacts ofthe current economic globalization and the third waves of democratization, thushow to conduct the construction of democratic politics in China is of greatimportance for maintaining the political stability and realizing the greatrejuvenation of the Chinese nation along the socialist road with Chinesecharacteristics.Scholars in the academic circle mostly study the problem of the democraticpolitics from the angle of political science. In this thesis, study is conducted on thearticles on the construction of democratic politics published in the magazines Red Flagand Qiu Shi since the reform and opening up from the angle of the ideological history.Based on the review of the process of our construction of democratic politics after thereform and opening up, effective practice in the construction of democratic politicsunder China's existing conditions is summed up, and then some understandings aresuggested. The following conclusions are shown in the articles on the construction ofdemocratic politics published in the magazine Red Flag and Qiu Shi. This paperreveals that for more than twenty years since the reform and opening up, theconstruction of democratic politics in our country has experienced two phases. Thefirst phase started from the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee andended at the 13th CPC National Congress. The second phase started from the 13th CPCNational Congress and has extended to the present. The two phases are those of theformation and perfection of the theory of the socialist democratic politics with Chinesecharacteristics respectively. The formation of the theory has preliminarily answeredthe problem of how to construct socialist democracy, simultaneously safeguarding therapid and stable development of economy and society in China with underdevelopedeconomy and culture under the condition of the reform and opening up.Through making a study, the main points on democratic political construction ofRed Flag and Qiu Shi after reform and opening up are shown in the followingstatements. (1) Adhering to the leadership of the Party and maintaining its authorityis the objective requirement of the democratic political construction of our country. (2)It is necessary to establish the scientific point of view for the democracy and toeliminate the influence of "big democracy";and at the same time, not to give up andweaken socialist values. (3) Developing countries should not be encouraged to choosethe way of "promoting development through democracy". As a developing country,China must seek a balanced development of economic growth and political democracy,and should not diverge its attention from economic growth and become too keen onpolitical democratization. (4) The construction of democratic politics in China shouldbe closely combined with the reform of economic system and the social development.(5) The reform of the political system is the basic way to perfect the socialistdemocratic system. (6) Actively developing democracy in the Party and the democracyat the basic level is a practical and effective way to promote the construction of thesocialist democratic politics. (7) Absorbing certain reasonable factors of capitalistdemocracy in a critical way is an important way for promoting socialist democraticpolitical construction. (8) The long-term property of socialist construction decides thatthe development of socialist democracy is a process of gradual progress.To sum up, the construction of socialist democratic politics with Chinesecharacteristics needs to proceed from objective realities. The basic national situationand the basic conditions of the initial stage of socialism are the biggest reality that wemust always keep in mind in constructing the socialist democratic politics withChinese characteristics.
