Establishing ASON By GMPLS

The optical network is the part of communication system, the traditional optical network just act as rock-bottom transfer in communication system, In recent years, voice, data, video etc. go towards the direction of synthesize. The internet business total amount annually with the growth speed in explosion type that turn over that before. Because of abrupt and imbalance of the internet business, the traditional optical network who adapt to the voice ,based on the circuit switch in SDH system must be upgraded to the network whose center business is data.Automatic Switched Optical Network was brought forward by ITU- T at the earliest meeting in Japanese Kyoto in March of 2000. In fact, it can be look as the example of automatic switched transfer network technique. The ASON adopts the technique of General Multi Protocol Label Switch (GMPLS).The GMPLS is a kind of outcome that combine Multi Protocol Label Switch (MPLS) and technique in optical transfer network. The GMPLS expand the conception of label switched to wavelengh and switched fiber. It can be used not only for Packet Switch Capable, but also for Time Division Multiplex Capable, Lambda Switch Capable and Fiber Switch Capable, the GMPLS consists of the Router protocol, Signaling protocol and Link Management Protocol. The Router protocol take charge of topology of the control layer and the transfer layer, Signaling protocol take charge of establish and backout of the Lab Switched Path, LMP take charge of automatic discovery of resources in network.The most special features in ASON is increasing an intelligent control layer between two traditional layers in optical network, it makes the optical network be able to discover the resources in network automatically. Based on the requirement of the consumer, it can set up or back out the LSP automatically, which would save the work force and the time. Intelligence control technique whose core is IP technique was brought to ASON;it can distribute the resources in network reasonable and protect the network when it is in danger, resume the network when it is broke. So, the ASON represented the new development stage and future evolution directions of the optical network techniques.
