Study On Intelligent Optical Network Signaling Protocol And Its Implementation

According to the sharp increase of the IP services, the main traffic load in the core optical network has been changed from the traditional voice services to IP services. Current optical networks are not efficient to provide the best services to the new traffic load. Intelligent Optical Network (ION) is now being developed to make the optical network more automatic and intelligent in maintenance and operation, and the most important is to make the optical network efficient to transport IP traffic. ION has employed GMPLS as the protocol suit for its control plane, and this paper focus on the study of the signaling protocol of ION. Firstly, this paper analyzes ION and GMPLS, and selects the RSVP-TE as the signaling protocol of ION to study and research. Finally, its design and implementation are given.
