Perspect The Relationship Between Mass Media And Vulnerable Groups During Social Transformation

Vulnerable groups exists in any societies and any phases. But in current social transforming China, the phenomena becomes even prominent. Situated in current social transformation and restricted by laws of social ideology, mass communication and market economy, Chinese mass media is in a dilemma facing the vulnerable groups phenomena. On one hand, according to the social responsibilities shared by the media, it should pay high attention to this matter. On the other hand, in the fierce commercial competition, vulnerable groups are likely to be ignored due to economic and other considerations. Therefore, vulnerable groups in the ordinary life, is also in an unprivileged position in the media.Trying to analyze the vulnerable situation that the vulnerable groups treated in the mass media, the paper probes into the causes as well as the negative effects of it. Providing illumination of some excellent reports about vulnerable groups, the paper points out that although vulnerable groups cannot be the focal point within the media's focus, the marginalized status of vulnerable groups should somehow be changed, be it for the stable social development or for the sustainable development of media, during this social transformation, and this paper gives some views on this issue.
