The Research And Application Of The Workflow Engine Based On The J2EE Platform

The Workflow technology, which is developing rapidly, is applied in different industries. The reason that Workflow technology and Workflow Management System are widely paid attentions to is that they can realize the business process automation which is composed of manual and computer activities under the information technology support. Workflow technology can accelerate the processing speed and enhance processing efficiency. The workflow engine software is the core of Workflow Management System, and it offers the support for defining and operating workflow in work.In this paper, we first introduce the workflow relevant concept, as well as Workflow Reference Model. We also outline workflow engine software framework, interface and the process definition language — XPDL, and describe the workflow engine software architecture on the J2EE platform. Meanwhile, the EJB module technology is used to design the workflow engine software, which conforms to the standards and specifications. Finally, the summary and the prospect of the workflow engine software are given.
