Research Of Video Surveillance System Based On Wireless Streaming Media And Embedded System

Based on two key technologies of Wireless Streaming Media and Embedded System, a brand new video surveillance solution, combining of efficient compression rate, streaming media transmission in low bandwidth and agile embedded terminal, is discussed to meet increasing requirements of the market.Focusing on video capturing, compressing, transmitting and playing, the thesis does feasibility analysis and detailed design on encoding video signal, on how much bandwidth resource needed to transmit the streaming media, and on how to play the streaming media on embedded terminal.In the system, video capturing card is cooperated with Windows Media Encoder to generate the initial streaming media. Then communication protocols involved are discussed, especially the advantages and disadvantages of application layer multicast and best selection of parent note in multicast tree. Windows sockets network program interfaces are used to transmit the streaming video. Finally, a design of embedded system running the Windows CE.NET and accessing GPRS network for data transfer is discussed. The GPRS module is connected to the development board and controlled by AT instructions via serial communication. The streaming media is played by DirectShow technology, which is multimediaarchitecture developed by Microsoft.As the video surveillance system adopts Microsoft Media Service architecture and Microsoft solutions throughout the video processing, the system becomes more compatible and reliable.
