Study On Integrated Logistics Chain Information Model

The E-business strategy of enterprises that focus on enhancing their own core competences puts forward higher requirment for coordinator in logistics chain. The different enterprises in logistics chain collaborate and cooperate can enhance effectiveness and efficiency of the logistics. So, the analysis of logistics should not be limited into enterprise itself, but have to consider all parties of logistics chain. The prerequisite of collaboration of logistics is effectiveness which builds upon transparency. The transparency of logistics should be achieved through integrated information process. The main isuues of modern logistics are the followings: (1) How to increase the integration ability of logistics chain; (2) How to effectively construct integrated logistics information system based on e-business.In this paper, a model, which is named ILCIM(Integrated Logistics Chain Information Model), is proposed and designed to solved above problems. The importance and role of logistics information system is illustrated by the analysis of Ryan's EIA model and Microsoft Information System Architecture. ILCIM is designed acoording to the concrete requirements from shippers, forwarders, carriers and terminal operators/ports. ILCIM model has the modular structure which makes it enough to be used as the solutions from simple transport supervision to difficult automatic message handling in complex logistics. It can be adapted to handle more difficult logistics chains with an increasing number of players, restrictions and options, thus easily adapted to the needs so that we understand the possibilities of using modern information technology.Based on our model, a logistics management system of the transportation department of some oil company have be implemented. The system illustrates the efficiency and flexibility of ILCIM.
