Computer networking has dramatically changed the way people learn and interact;the way companies operate;and the way almost every personal, business, andprofessional activity is performed. One major paradigm shift has been mobilecomputing. Mobile computing has the general idea of enabling users to use wirelessdevices to access applications and appropriate wireless infrastructurer than cansupport mobile users in an integrated and seamless fashion. To meet increasing demand for mobile multimedia services and to support thephenomenal growth in celluar communications, network providers are currentlyimplementing the third generation (3G)of celluar networks and are considering thenext step of the evolution. The networks proposed for the evolution of UniversalMobile Telecommunications System and the next generation of wireless networkslean toward being Internet Protocol(IP)based. This paper proposes the integration of Mobile IPv6 and MPLS.The proposedscheme merges the scalability ,and reduced latency handoffs of Mobile IPv6 with theperformance of MPLS.More specifically,MPLS add several advantages to an IP-basedRAN including faster table lookup, less control overhead, and the ability to be appliedover networks using any layer 2 switching. This proves to be very desirable in themulti-radio access architectures considered for future wireless networks.Performance evaluation comparing hierarchical mobile MPLS model with theexisting rudimental model are conducted with the Network Simulator (ns2).Simulation results demonstrate the ability of hierarchical mobile model to minimizehandoff resource reservation delay, handoff packet delay and loss.At the end of this paper,a conclusion of all the ideas are presented. The paper alsoanalyzed the weakness of this model and some improvement are expected.
