With the development of Internet technology, there is an increasing large number of users and growing real-time services. Different from the traditional IP service, in addition to the request of simple information transmission, the real-time services also have clear requirement of delay and bandwidth. Meanwhile, due to the rapid development of the mobile communication technology, the real-time services are also applied under mobile network environment, and new requirements of QoS (Quality of Service) guarantee are proposed in mobile network environment. Therefore, how to provide QoS guarantee in the Mobile IPv6 network is a hot topic. The existing solutions of QoS in Mobile IPv6 are most based on RSVP. However, RSVP faces so many problems in security, flexibility, scalability. So our research project introduces Next Step inSignaling—NSIS. According to the modular requirement, NSISprotocol suite is structured in two layers: signaling transport layer(NTLP) and signaling application layer(NSLP), and the layered architecture determines the flexibility and scalability of NSIS.The thesis first introduces the basic operation and critical process of Mobile IPv6, analyzes two QoS models and QoS parameters, and discusses the resolution of Mobile IPv6 QoS based on RSVP, pointing out its deficiency and improvement. Then a more detailed analysis of the architecture of NSIS protocol, discussion of the implementation of signaling transport layer GIST and signaling application layer QoS NSLP, comparison of NSIS and RSVP, the effect of NTLP and NSLP of NSIS under mobile environment is also studied. Clearing out the impact and requirement of QoS NSLP in Mobile IPv6 environment, the end-to-end QoS resolution based on NSIS is proposed. In the end, the NSIS protocol on NS2 simulation platform is implemented, which mainly realizes the function of GIST protocol, and builds a simple NSLP application on top of GIST—Ping Tool.
