Research Of Network Performance Monitoring System Based On Mobile Agent

With the ever-increasing scale, complexity and heterogeneity of modern network,the traditional centralized management pattern has been unable to meet the need ofnetwork management. The appearance of mobile agent technology provides a new wayfor development of network management. In this paper, a model of highly effectiveand nimble distributed network performance monitoring system is proposed, in whichmobile agent is applied to gather the network performance data and the superiorities ofhierarchical management pattern and web-based management are included. Then onthe basis of the model, we mainly design the mobile agent, system interface, thescheme of web-based management as well as the performance information database,and accomplish the main functions of system under the support of AdventNet SNMPAPI and IBM Aglet. Finally, through the theoretical and experimental analysis andcomparison on the performance of system based on SNMP and system based onmobile agent, the application feasibility of mobile agent technology is appraised, andthe superiority of system based on mobile agent in traffic and response time isconfirmed.
