Nowadays In the textile industry, detection of fabric defects are still accomplished manually, inefficiently and costly, in order to realize the automatization of this process, it must be realize the capture of the fabric images. The image grabber and process system, discussed in this article, realize the fabric images'collection and preprocess. The work include the architecture of the whole system,hardware design,logic implemented by FPGA,image process algorithms implemented by FPGA and the improvement of algorithms. Firstly, the author introduce current state of image collection and process systems, compare systems separately based on FPGA,DSP and ASIC,considering the demands of the system, bring forward the whole architecture of image collection and process system based on FPGA. In system, control logic module of peripheral interface,chips control logic module and algorithms module are all implemented by FPGA,communication with PC is implemented by PCI bus. This article introduce the hardware architecture of image grabber board and each function and interface module implemented by FPGA. Detailedly discuss the choices of hardware and realization schemes, including choice of camera,choice of frame memory realization schemes,choice of PCI bus realization schemes,choice of FPGA,choice of FPGA configuration scheme. In system each interface logic control and image preprocess are implemented by FPGA, so the design of FPGA's internal logic and algorithms realization in FPGA is the focus of this article. Lots of peripheral chips'functions are realized in a single FPGA, improve the system's integration and reliability, then optimize the system. Based on the analysis of the system's data flow, optimize the write and read process of data,improve efficiency of data's write and read. At the end of this article, the author introduce the familiar image preprocess algorithms, including filters and edge detection of the image, summarize that the convolution algorithms is the most important algorithms of preprocess, then discuss optimization of scheme that FPGA realize the convolution algorithms. Finally speed up the system, improve the performance of the system.
