Sharing educational resources and interoperating among all kinds of instruction application systems are two important problems in e-learning implementation. However, the standards and mechanism for the exchange of educational resources at the education administration level are not completely implemented, and the compatibility structure and the definition of interoperability interfaces in instructive environment exist some blanks also, which obstructs the sharing and communication of the online learning resources in large areas. To solve these problems, this paper starts with the research of the interoperability interfaces in instructive environment. According to the current international e-learning technology standards and the situation in China, it develops the enterprise interface specification which is used in Chinese e-learning conditions. This specification defines a standardized set of structures that can be used to exchange data between different systems. These structures provide the basis for standardized data bindings that allow software developers and implementers to create instructional management processes that interoperate across systems developed independently by various software developers. First of all, the paper introduces the methods and thoughts of developing the enterprise interfaces specification. Then the information model and the interoperation process of the enterprise interfaces specification, which is known as CELTS-19, in Chinese E-Learning Technology Standards (CELTS) have been introduced. Second, the paper researches the interoperability logic of the core data objects in enterprise interface specification in deep, and designs XML binding and the conformance testing of enterprise interface based on XML in this specification. Then the data running mechanism and interface structural mechanism of the enterprise interface are constructed, and the harmonization among the enterprise specification and some relative standards in CELTS is explained. Based on the preceding investigations, the enterprise interface solution is proposed, which takes the data interoperation between different systems as the core, and the XML as the information transportation format, and is supported by XML, Java technologies. The designs of the prototype of the solution, as well as the realization of it, are introduced in details. With the development of the information era, according to the enterprise interface specification, the application integration between enterprise system and LCMS has been designed. Combining learning design patterns of Rapid e-Learning, the paper focus on the research of application of enterprise interface specification in enterprise system. These restate the importance of the enterprise interface in actual application. Finally, the outcomes of experiments proved that this specification is reasonable, practical and correct. Filling the blank of enterprise interface model in China, this model provides a best foundation for the promotion of e-learning as well as computer managed instruction. The work in this dissertation is significant for promoting the standardization of e-learning technology.
