Access Grid Collaborative Platform On Campus Grid

Grid enables resource sharing and coordinated problem solving in dynamic, multi-institutional virtual organizations. As an extension of Grid, the Access Grid is the ensemble of resources that can be used to support human interaction across the grid.The Access Grid has evolved dramatically over the recent years and has become one of the favorite communication tools for advanced collaboration, group meetings, teaching and seminars etc around the world.This paper firstly introduces the architecture, implementation and primary technology of Access Grid, then describes the Access Grid Node' s software and hardware configuration and deployment.After indicating some of Access Grid' s limitations and deficiencies, this paper did research work to improve and extend the use of the Access Grid in following areas.1. A campus grid is deployed to integrate high performance computing resources in Zhejiang University. The architecture is based on a hierarchical combination of two grid middleware products, Globus Toolkit and Sun Grid Engine, in order to use both of their advantages.2. Use Access Grid to build a collaborative visualization platform in our campus grid environment.3. Based on the architecture and the relative API of Access Grid, a framework is provided to ease the development of the shared applications. With this framework, users can improve the developing efficiency largely.Lastly, this paper does a summarization and pointed out the following research work.
