The Access Grid is the ensemble of resources that can be used to support human interaction across the grid. From the first appearance in the year of 1999,it had rapid development. But until now,Access Grid is still far from perfect and needs a lot of improvement work. This paper first analysed the current architecture of the Access Grid, and then indicated some of its limitations and deficiencies. This paper also listed the main future development directions for the Access Grid. After this analysis, this paper did research work to improve the Access Grid in three main areas.(1). In order to change the unscalable condition of the current virtual venue server's design in the access grid, this paper gave a detail multi-virtual venue servers model, which introduced the concept of group and is more scalable and flexiable. This paper also gave the main interfaces of the new group management service. After this, this paper did a simulating implementation of the multi-virtual venue servers model.(2). To enrich the software that support collaboration on the Access Grid, this paper designed a generic application-sharing model that works with the workspace docking mechanism. This paper also listed the main interfaces for the generic application-sharing services designed for the access grid.(3). This paper also did research work in the communication control mechanism in a virtual venue. This paper mainly does research for text, audio and video datastreams' control in a virtual venue. After this,I also listed the needed expansion for the current virtual venue service to support sub-group commnunication mechanism.Lastly, this paper does a summarization and pointed out the following research work. |
