Currently multi-type lamplight controllers mainly contain 8bit-singlechip. With the fast upgrade of complexity, the enlarged scale of lamplight controller and the requirement for downloading files of lightening-design at distance, the system based on singlechip is unsuitable for the requirement of lamplight controller in future.ARM processor and FPGA ,both have advantages and disadvantages. ARM processor has the advantages of high running speed, low energy consumption, flexible program design, resourceful exterior hardware etc, but the cycle for its general GPIO voltage change is only about 1 microsecond, which is unsuitable for the system of high speed I/O data interface. FPGA can easily output periodic data in tens ns by using oscillator, which has the high speed I/O data interface function. With the combination of ARM and FPGA technics , this system has the characters of ethernet network, great capability memory, high speed data output and flexible program design etc ,which meets our current requirements.This article carries on the research for the ARM-core, uC/OS-II embeded realtime operating system, TCP/IP communications, external equipment management and FPGA. An embedded system is designed for lamplight controller which is based on ARM processor and FPGA, can control ten thousands of LED lights and design-files downloading at distance.In the article, it firstly analyses the design scheme and bottleneck of of LED traditional lamplight controller. By comparing the capability of traditional LED lamplight controller with that of ARM processor and FPGA reconstruction, it indicates the advantage of using ARM and FPGA technology. Secondly, it advises the overall design scheme and separates functional module. Thirdly, the article introduces the characters and inside structure of PHILIPS ARM7 LPC2292, communications of ethernet network, operation of CF CARD, using FPGA, replanting of UC/OS-II in great detail. Besides, it accomplishes the lamplight controller with distance control and high speed I/O , builds environment for test and informs the final data after test. Finally, it has the expectations for the original design of lamplight controller in future.
