With LAN technology applying in many fields, the problem of computer management is more prominent. It becomes a challenging and daunting task to supervise and manage a large number of computer assets. Therefore, the effective management of computer assets is very important in LAN. In order to manage computer assets effectively, asset management system that is a network management system is built in LAN, which provides a reliable, practical, effective management platform for computers assets management in LAN.Firstly, the development status of computer network management software is deeply analyzed. The difficulties and prominent problems are expatiated. Many technique solutions are compared. A model based on TCP/IP protocol is brought forward. The C/S system architecture is adopted. Secondly, three-tier framework is built by the object-oriented programming and design patterns, by which ensures stability and expansion of the system. The design idea and detailed realization process of assets management system is discussed. It settles the problems that the managers using this system whose ability of operating computers is not so good.The paper adopts server regularly polling and controlled computers sending data on its own initiative data collecting modes, realizes asset database updating in time, also lightens the load of net effectively; it adopts system hook, filter driver and Socket, by which remotely operates the appointed computers effectively; the development model of COM technique, realizes expediently enlarging system functions; it adopts the technique of Windows remote management, which solves the problem of building LAN management platform, and also realizes installing and disposing asset management system in enterprise LAN.According to the actural requirements, many new technologies are adopted in the paper, such as network communication, Database, WMI, XML, COM etc. An asset management system based on TCP/IP is implemented in LAN. The result of application shows that this system is reliable and accomplishes the anticipative objects.
