Although there has been rapid development in Jiangsu Public Security Information Network in recent years, its security situation has still been worried. Against the problems in the network, and combined with the practical requirements, this author has made research and has developed a Distributed Network Security Management and Detection System (DNSMDS, in short) that can centrally monitor, contorl and manage all kinds of computers and equipments in intranet. This paper discusses the design and implementation of DNSMDS based on DCOM technique and three-tier client/server architecture in detail.DNSMDS fulfills the tasks of security detection on servers and security management of verious client hosts, and resolves some security problems that exist in network management and daily use. The system has realized centrally security monitoring, contorlling and managing the running status and online actions, that come from all kinds of computers, important servers and other equipments in every area and every department of local public security specific intranet.The system has been designed based on distributed object technique. It is built in three-tier client/server architecture, the development tool is Borland C++ Builder 6.0, and Oracle is selected as database management system. DNSMDS is composed by several pieces of software distributed in central servers and client machines in various area and department. They work together harmoniously to complete every task of DNSMDS. This paper describes the design thought and implementation of the system, discusses its characteristics of three-tier client/server architecture, and illustrates the designing and implementing procedure of the security detection on servers, security management of client hosts and application server software. The paper also describes application of the key techniques in this system ---- DCOM, MIDAS and database interface. In the end, the security of the system employment is also mentioned.
