| Ideological and political education touches upon wide substance and presents various forms and approaches in which every one of them has their original advantages tointerpret this education. Along with the wide usage of televisions, telecasting which has the biggest amount of audience in Chinese society, has a deep-going effect on people's thoughts and behaviors. Meanwhile, Ideological and political education in telecasting impacts the whole audience's growth in an original way. And as one of the mostimportant part of telecasting, TV news plays an outstanding role in this area, especially in cultivating people's minds and transforming their ideas. The activity will rich the meaning and stretch extension of modern Ideological and political education.At present, telecasting has becoming very political and turned to one core in thepolitical information system, even an important tool in mainstream information transfer.Based on the approach of Marxist dialectical materialism and historical materialism, this paper discusses the connotation and forms, features, functions, facing challenges and countermeasures in telecasting Ideological and political education. Combined with related theories of ideological and political education study, communication study, and journalism.
