As mentioned in National Outline for Medium and Long Term Science & Technology Development, intellisense will be one of the priorities of cutting edge technology in the future with wide application perspectives, playing a key role in internet of things which will promote information industries development.By investigating the current status of domestic bridge safety inspection system with both theoretical development and practical demands, this paper is proposing a new design of intellisense cell based on MSP430 microcontroller with multiple channels of data transmission like Zigbee Wireless Network, internet, serial port, etc., which provides a solution to monitor physical properties of both segment structure and external environment of bridges.This paper introduces the detail design, assemble and function realization of intellisense cell, including modules of sensor, signal tuning, MSP430 micro processor, Zigbee, serial port and internet. Considering the application of bridge inspection system, the semiconductor chip used in the intellisense cell has also been briefly introduced including working principles, peripheral circuits and operating conditions, summarized by schematic diagram of hardware connection. For the software and programming part of intellisense cell, this paper also demonstrates the functions of data collecting and transmission, master control program and data storage program. The detail information of three different method of data transmission in intellisense cell has been described in this part, that Zigbee is used for wireless data transfer, serial port is applicable when maintenance or wireless been interfered and internet is for simultaneous monitoring of key points. The software development platform used in the programming, IAR Embedded Workbench, has been also illustrate with flow chart in this paper and the test result of both hardware and software, including power consumption proves the success of this design.Finally, this work has been summarized in the last part of the paper as well as the outlook of future development of intellisense technology.
