Bridge is highly concerned because of its high cost, long service time and directrelativity with human’s life safety. In order to avoid catastrophic accident caused bybeing difficult to detect damage of system and structure, bridge structural healthmonitoring is a matter of concern to the entire world. However, large bridge healthmonitoring system has problem of power supply, difficulties with installation andmaintenance, the high cost and poor stability, which is difficult to popularize to smalland medium-sized bridges. This paper is established in designing bridge structure healthmonitoring data acquisition system based on a embedded processor as core and Zigbeetechnology as the network platform, to make up for the disadvantages of large industrialcontrol system, and expect to achieve stable, effective and reliable data acquisition.In this paper the design of bridge health monitoring data acquisition system ismainly aimed at the field data acquisition onsite and data transmission parts of bridgehealth monitoring system. A new bridge data acquisition system put forward based onembedded technology, Zigbee wireless network technology and GPRS transmissiontechnology. Realization of control data acquisition, data fusion, data processing, erroranalysis, data storage and data transmission function achieved using embeddedtechnology with GPRS network, to solve the industrial PC power consumption andmaintenance difficulties problem; because of using Zigbee wireless sensor network andsensor node power source control technology for data acquisition, data transmission andpower management, the difficulty of the data acquisition is reduced and wiringdifficulties and high wiring cost defect is covered.The main characteristics of the system and innovative points is as follows:(1) Datapreprocessing and dump center is designed based on the ARM processor and Zigbeecoordinator, the system interface is very simple to use, and to realize the successfulreplacement for large-scale industrial control system.(2) Sensor cluster system is set upbased on the802.15.4Zigbee wireless local area network, sensors are designed intodifferent functional of Zigbee nodes, to realize data acquisition and transmission. Andalso, a new data transmission mode is designed based on the Zigbee networkingprotocol, can successfully accomplish the cable system to wireless systemtransformation.(3) To ensure the service time and lower power consumption of system,low power consumption power awaken mechanism is designed based on time driven and sensor scheduling, by which is controlled data dump center, means sensor nodesand coordinator switch into sleep mode with time slice under the condition ofguaranteed data acquisition frequency to keep the system stability.(4) For the issue of alarge quantity of data and data redundancy, this paper proposes a method offractal-based data similarity detection to accomplish abnormal data preprocessing.With above four kind of technical solution, this paper design a intelligent bridgehealth monitoring data acquisition system including embedded data preprocessingcenter, Zigbee sensor network, GPRS data transmission system to make the traditionalindustrial control system miniaturized, intelligent, and convenient for the installationand maintenance, as also suitable for small and medium-sized bridges. Manyexperiments were conducted around system stability and data reliability in the wholeprocess of software and hardware design. The results show that the system has the easyinstallation and maintenance, easy to use, high stability, data reliability.
