Along with the development of communication technology, Near Field Communication (NFC) Technology is playing an increasingly important role in our daily life. ZigBee stands out gradually from fierce competition among others wireless communication technology, which relies on its low cost, the low power loss, the convenience of network construction and many superiority. Particularly from ZigBee, it has powerful network function. It supports present three wireless ad hoc network types and also has the powerful network toughness and the system reliability, which causes ZigBee network to be more nimble, highly effective and reliable. The application of low rate communications technology draws close to industry manufacture and our daily life and can satisfy the demand in many fields such as home automation, industry control, building automation, medical nursing and so on. The main supporters of ZigBee technology established ZigBee alliance to promote the standard's formulation, the global generalization of ZigBee technology and test and authentication of ZigBee products and platform.The dissertation introduced ZigBee technology's background, ZigBee devices'composition and network structure and gave a further discussion on ZigBee protocol specification. In the view of low cost, the low power loss and the high performance, ZigBee hardware development platform was designed and developed by selecting appropriate microprocessor and the radio frequency chip. Meanwhile, on the basis of the hardware development platform, ZigBee protocol stack was researched and transplanted on Microchip.The mother board for experimental platform was designed and developed based on the MSP430F149 microprocessor, and the CC2420 was taken as the RF chip for designing wireless module. Mother board and the wireless receiving and transmission module were connected through the MSP430 SPI interface, and by master mode to communicate.In system software design aspect, it gave further discussion on the overall framework and the function of the every layer of Zigbee protocol stack, then separately analyzed protocol stack on coordinator, router and terminal equipment nodes according to device components of Zigbee network. Finally, it completed modification and compilation of the initializing program and bottom lay driver for data construction, microchip MSP430 and Zigbee chip CC2420. Thereby, the microchip Zigbee protocol stack software on the hardware development platform was realized.At the end of the dissertation, it will carry on the general summary to the full text, and point out the next step for the research area.
