With the growth of information society, the information technology, especially computer technology, has become an important part of higher vocational education. Naturally, the course Basic Computer Application has become one of compulsory courses in most higher vocational colleges in China. The course has also become a major means to develop students'ability in dealing with information. Instructional design based on Educational Principles from Information Perspective (EPFIP) is made for the teaching of information. Discussing the instructional design based on EPFIP and how to apply it to the specific course allow us to prove the truth of EPFIP and provide educators with a teaching reference.The study is a combination of theory and practice. Firstly, instructional design is thoroughly elaborated according to the latest development of EPFIP, laying the theoretical foundation for the implementation of teaching activities. Secondly, an application research on instructional design is conducted, analyzing the current teaching practice of the course of Basic Computer Application of five higher vocational colleges in Beibu Gulf area. Based on the above, this research also put forward some relating learning and instructional design scenarios. Innovatively, the study combined them together and systematically applied them to teaching practice. Through comparison, instructional design based on EPFIP is proved to be able to meet the actual instructional demand.In a word, the direct objective of this study is to provide effective teaching reference for computer teachers and easy and efficient study methods for students. What's more, the deep-level objective is to effectively integrate instructional design based on EPFIP into teaching practice. Of course, the instructional design based on EPFIP is also applicable on other courses, more extensive application research will be conducted in follow-up studies.
