As the market changes, many species but small quantities have become the main characteristics of mold product markets, so it asks the manufacturers try to reduce the cycle of mold design and manufacturing to response rapidly to the product market. It is no doubt that developing practical CAx system in line with the product's characteristics is one of the key ways to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Through the combination of modern mold technology and much mold design experience, on the basis of the practical principle, the paper searches for the solutions for Progressive Die CAD/CAPP system architecture.Through summarizing design-process and design-methods of progressive die, analyzing detailed the experience and features of progressive die design and manufacturing, the paper proposes the functional framework of the progressive die application system and the design idea of application modules.Based on special background such as the mold design inefficiencies, graphics mistakes, process design defects and lack of standard parts library, the paper use ObjectARX technology of AutoCAD platform to realize functions of the following modules such as graphics verification, fast intelligent design, standard parts library, process computing, processing information automatic generation and BOM table automatic generation.The paper discusses how to develop Progressive Die CAPP system which bases on network environment and highly integrates with product database eMan through database interface technology and the technology extracting product data through draft. It realizes the function of product process design, the product information submit, designers rights management, quality assurance of processes and product query browser.
