With the rapid development of mobile communication service, the construction of communication base station increases quickly. Correspondingly, the base station spreads more widely and the number of equipments in base station keeps increasing. As a result, the network maintenance department is needed to response more quickly to the anomalies and base monitoring coming to be their most important job. Therefore, base station monitoring system is great significant to reduce operation and maintenance costs, and to improve the maintenance efficiency. A GPRS(General Packet Radio System,GPRS) based remote monitoring system for base station is proposed in this thesis to monitor and control the power and environment automatically.Firstly, the main functions of monitoring system,described as follows: monitor/coercion,alarm,configuration,administration and energy-efficient ventilation, are analyzed. Also analyzed is the monitoring object, including power system, air conditioner and ventilator, environment system. The remote monitoring system network structure for base station is presented, including monitor and control data transmission through GPRS. After that, the hardware function of monitoring system, is introduced to fit in with the system function. Consequently, based on the introduction of net construction for base station, the frame structure and the principle of circuit realization are analyzed, and the method of software realization is proposed. Along with the connection of modules, the data acquisition, control and communication interface circuit, micro controller and its peripheral circuits are designed on the basis of the hardware structure of the base station. In the communication section, the interface circuits for GPRS module are proposed to transmit the monitoring data and control command of the base station. In the software section, the overall process and the monitoring software for base station are designed to accomplish the functions as follows: ARM system control, environmental parameters detection, external circuits control, data communication and human-computer interaction. Some program codes are listed in this thesis.The designed system is applied in 20 base station and worked well, which validates the research achievements in this thesis. So the monitoring system for base station is worthy of premotion.
