The research on FOG has made considerable achievements, which have been applied in many fields. Using ultra-fine Polarization maintaining fiber allows the miniaturization of FOG, which makes the navigation system more flexible.FOG Fiber coupler is the key device to FOG, and determines the performance of it. Therefore, the study of key technologies for an automated micro-production system which produces ultrafine PM fiber couplers has important application value.Based on the results which have been made in our laboratory, the method of determining the polarization axis of the ultra-fine PM fibers is analyzed and optimized. The control method in fused draught process of ultra-fine PM fiber with constant force and velocity is determined. Modules of the ultra-fine PM fiber's micro production system are designed. The control program of the micro-production system is written, and a large number of experiments are processed. The effectiveness and reliability of the micro-production system are verified.First of all, the simulation of images of fibers in different distances is analyzed, the results by different POL method with different distances and different characteristics are compared, and several improvement POL methods are made sure for the polarization axis determining of ultra-fine fiber. Fourier fitting method and Curve characteristic auto judged method are designed to do experimental original data processing, and newton interpolation is used for further improved repeatability.Then, as the requirement of fused draught process of ultra-fine PM fiber with constant force and velocity, using electromagnetic coil to provide the draught force, and do the dynamic calibration to insure the relationship between the current in the coil and the draught force. Then the draught force is open loop controlled by adjusting the current. High-precision encoder is used for measurement of the position, and T method is used to compute the speed. PID closed loop control is used to control the drawing speed in fiber fusion process, while high-pressure arc is used for fiber heating. The temperature is indirectly control.On the basis of the above, the production principle of ultra-fine PM fiber coupler's micro production is analyzed, and the working process of micro-production system is designed. Based on the process, the multithreading program is written to control many kinds of modules.Finally, the micro-production system for ultra-fine PM fiber coupler is built, and a large number of experiments are processed. Different results by different POL improved method are compared, and the effectiveness of three-bright-side-line method is sured. The experimental datas are processed by fourier fitting method and Curve characteristic auto judged method, and the processing result has a high repeatability. The calibration of high precision micro-force sensor is completed, and the dynamic calibration of the relationship between current and force is also finished. The open-loop control of draught force is achieved, and the PID parameters are adjusted to improve the accuracy of the speed control.Experimental results show that the ultra-fine PM fiber coupler micro-production system meets the requirements of the basic functions, and it can auto completes the micro-production of ultra-fine PM fiber couplers. The system has been applied in practical production lines.
