Optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing technology is two main application fields of optical fiber device, tapered optical fiber is an important device of optical fiber sensor. At present, the fabrication methods of tapered optical fiber have hydrogen oxygen flame heating, arc discharge, CO2 laser ablation, physical grinding polishing,chemical etching, etc. Electro-thermal fused biconical taper system with annular graphite resistance makes fiber heat melting deformation,which is one of the method for preparation to the tapered optical fiber sensor. Good repeatability and consistency of optical fiber devices can be obtained through controlling tapering speed, tapering time, tapering direction parameters, such as fiber coupler, variable diameter optical fiber, long period fiber grating,etc.First, introduced to the transition and development of fiber optic sensor technology based on thermal deformation method, and simple introduction to structure and functional characteristics of electro-thermal fused biconical taper system in this topic. We fabricate fiber coupler by using the three-core fiber and coaxial dual-waveguide fiber, moreover, exploring its process parameter, observing end surface of coupler with different parameters, screening the appropriate ratio, determined to optimization direction of parameters, and finally the coupler and the CO2 laser writing fiber grating sensing were concatenated for sensing experiment research.Second, focus on astronomical spectrum observation demand Integral Field Unit (IFU)for improving the utilization ratio of the spectrometer, we adopt electro-thermal fused biconical taper method for experimental on variable diameter 125?m optical fiber and 70?m optical, and explore the influence of fusion parameters to tapering region morphology.Optimizating parameters with tapering area and taper waist of variable diameter fiber research in order to obtain adiabatic fiber condition.Finally, according to characteristics of the fused biconical taper long period fiber grating,we fabricate to several types of long period fiber grating by adjusting tapering direction,tapering speed, translation time, etc. Using the long period fiber grating carry out the measurement of temperature and strain sensing characteristic, and analysis taper parameters on the influence of long period fiber grating sensing properties.This topic is aim to research electro-thermal optimization method for preparing fiber optic sensor applications based on the electro-thermal fused biconical taper method.Controlling tapering speed, tapering time, tapering direction parameters, We obtain fiber coupler, variable diameter optical fiber, long period fiber grating, etc, which are used to observe astronomical spectra for improving the utilization efficiency of spectrometer.Furthermore, it is very important to research electro-thermal fused biconical taper technological parameter optimization method.
