Fused coupler optical fiber communication and fiber optic sensors are the most basic passive components, and their widely usefulness in communications optical devices is essential to the modern light. Indicators are also very representative of a class of optical devices to its production process and the performance. Coupling to light, the current scope of the study is mainly directed against 2x2 fiber coupler for research of the performance indicators, including the splitting ratio, excess loss, temperature characteristics, spectral characteristics, isolation and other performance indicators control, analysis of performance indicators for the process of making optical fiber couplers. While the 3x3 fiber coupler is fewer researched.In this paper, the first work is to make a detailed introduction about the system coupled mode theory of optical fiber coupler made in the process of coupled equations and the coupled wave characteristics.which is based on the structural classification of optical fiber coupler.This paper also provides a theoretical support for future theoretical research and simulation.Second, for the production process, technology and testing process of fiber optic coupler, this article describes in detail the fused biconical taper coupler machine system, and as a basis fused tapering method, tells the story of a qualified manufacturing specific process fiber coupler,also encountered in the production of some special problems are analyzed, and explained how to test the performance index of optical fiber coupler.Finally, the coupling theory, based on the 2x2 broadband fiber optic coupler and 3x3 fiber coupler parallel to modeling and simulation, detailed analysis of wideband 2x2 fiber coupler splitting ratio of output change, additional loss spectrum Temperature characteristics, the performance index of factors, and by designing experiments to proof. Finally, the detection of 3x3 fused fiber coupler parallel performance and found the spectral characteristics of this coupler is better than 2x2 fiber coupler, fiber coupler of the two spectral characteristics were analyzed and compared Concluded, and the large number of experiments designed to compare, the results show that the 33 parallel fused fiber coupler spectral performance is better than 2x2 fiber coupler. This is where the innovation of this paper.
