As high-tech products such as aerospace equipment and military weapon systems, increasing the complexity, automatic test system architecture is also proposed new requirements. With GPIB, VXI, PXI test bus as a platform, centralized test system architecture can not meet the new demands. Using LXI instruments as the node to set high, common distributed test systems have become one research focus in the field of automatic test.Research of LXI-based distributed test systems include based on a standardized instrument hardware platform technology, distributed system architecture, system development tools and many other aspects. Among them, the executable code to download is one of the most basic and core technology in distributed test systems, is also one of the main features in the difference between centralized and distributed test systems. Currently, the use of test script is the most effective way to realize this core technology. The main content of this thesis is to use test script to realize the executable code to download in LXI instrument.After argumentation, this thesis choose scripting language Lua as the language of executable code written, and using self-research LXI device as a research platform, build the Lua runtime environment in embedded Linux operating system. This thesis has solved the Lua script to remote download and control, the mapping between Lua script and specific instrument action, and other key technologies. This thesis bases a structure of future test program development plan proposed by the working group of test system framework, which belongs to U.S. Defense Department (DOD), combined with LXI network, intelligent, standardized features, and introduces a script-based technology of executable code to download, to propose a LXI-based distributed ATS frame. In the framework of this system, the idea of instrument interchangeable represented by IVI standard, centralized resource management and complex method of test resource mapping has been abandoned, intelligent of LXI instrument has been exerted, the thinking of signal interchangeable has extended in the internal design of instrument driver, management of test resource has extended to the equipment level, these makes the ATS more versatility, efficiency and capacity of reconfigurable, makes the development and maintenance more easier.This thesis using the self-research LXI device makes experiment for Lua-based scripting technology of executable code to download, and using multiple LXI devices set up some simple verification systems, relying the technology of executable code to download, communication between modules, as well as complex trigger and synchronization of LXI device, to verify the runtime feature of test program in instrument level and realization of signal interchangeable in the architecture of LXI based distributed test systems. The verification systems also prove the application's feasibility and rationality of the Lua-based technology of executable code to download in LXI-based distributed test system.
