Therefore, these technologies and software are increasingly wide applied in the manufacturing industry. As a result, the means of product design and product management have been through a profound revolution. In a sense, the generation of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) concept and development of PLM products have been playing a very important role in this industry.As the deep application of the PLM products, the Windchill software from American company PTC has become more and more popular. It has taken full advantage of Internet and the related information technology, and is used to manage the product's lifecycle. The Windchill software can also ensure that every product can be quickly and efficiently deployed with information application software product. Through Windchill, the customers can make a centralized management of the product design, raw material purchasing, suppliers, sales and market analysis, which can improve the product design efficiency and hit ratio of different designs. Meantime, it can also reduce the time a lot from the product design to release-to-market. Therefore, the PTC Company started a redevelopment on the SharePoint platform to solve the Windchill application issues. SharePoint-based researches and applications of Windchill WebPart have provided Windchill users with a simple and unified product information view which allows SharePoint users to view, search and edit Windchill data and contents in ERP, financial system and other enterprise-level application tools with greater ease. The advantages of SharePoint can be evidently seen during the use of Microsoft's Business Connectivity Services (BCS). The existing information search, task assignment and report execution functions of SharePoint were also expanded in the project. This product can also let user get the Windchill data and finish some important operations for customers within the SharePoint basic module, which is WebParts. They can not only view and browse the Windchill data they want but also do some updates for Windchill items. In conclusion, it is very important to develop and implement Windchill WebPart.
