Power line communication (PLC), it means using low-voltage power line as communication media for data transmission and information exchange. Because of wide extending area of the power network and no need of new wire, it would have great economic benefits and prospects to use power line for data communication. With the development of technology, PLC technology also has become a hot research issue. At present, it mainly applied to automatic meter reading system, street light control system and edifice control system in China.On the background of street light control system, this paper was in the foundation of the analysis of the domestic and foreign research situation and development trend in PLC technology, and with the application of PLC technology in domestic, researched and realized the networking communication technology based on low-voltage power line carrier.Firstly, there was an analysis in detail of impedance, noise and attenuation existing in low voltage power line. Upon the above analysis results, a basic model of low voltage power line communication channel was established. Secondly, this paper introduced the basic principle of FSK and BPSK which are two basic modulation techniques, analyzed the transmission error rate situation of these two modulation techniques, and tested their resistance to interference under the real power line environment using the simulation software. According the test results, the system decided to use BPSK whose capacity of resisting disturbance is even higher. Then this paper conducted the preliminary study and application to the network technology, proposed a routing algorithm based on dynamic programming. The last part of this article designed the program flow and the hardware circuits which had been made to the PCB boards, the carrier communication performance and networking capability of the system were also tested in the practical application.The emphasis of this paper was that the analysis and selection of modulation modes and the design of hardware and software. The real tests and experiments showed that the system designed in this paper had a strong anti-jamming ability and realized the data network communication. It would have great effective on the development of low-voltage PLC technology in China.
