Wireless sensor networks as a new kind of information acquisition and processing technology have great application value in such fields as military, environmental monitoring and forecasting, medical care, urban transportation, smart homes, large workshop and warehouse management. Since many applications of wireless sensor networks depend on the location information of sensor nodes, how to obtain the accurate localization has become the focus of attentions. Self-localization of sensor node is to get the position information of node by using information of some already known nodes and some special mechanisms. Correct self-localization of sensor nodes is the promotion of monitoring events normally. There are still lots of shortcomings in this technology such as great impacted by circumstances, limited positioning accuracy, high algorithm complexity and huge energy-costs. Therefore the research on positioning mechanism with little impacted by circumstances, high positioning accuracy, low algorithm complexity and low energy-costs has great significance.The major analyses and finding are as follows:1) Propose the concept of the virtual beacon node firstly, and give a new kind of positioning mechanism based on visual beacon node. The mechanism can improve the positioning accuracy of a kind of range-free positioning algorithm without increasing the cost of positioning.2) Take the improvement on the APIT algorithm for example, to show how the new mechanism improves the positioning accuracy of related algorithms without increasing the cost of positioning, and give the corresponding simulation results and analysis. 3) Propose the positioning algorithm based on the perpendicular bisector regional division, which has high positioning accuracy and low computational complexity, and give the corresponding simulation results and analysis.4) Propose a improved algorithm to further improve the positioning performance of the new algorithm by giving some relevant theorems and the corresponding proof, and give the corresponding simulation results and analysis.
