At present, the digital multimedia technology is developing rapidly. The international H.264 coding standard and the domestic AVS coding stardard which is developed on our own are two latest standards. H.264 High Profile is a further expansion of the H.264 standard. Therefore, the design of video decoder chip which can simultaneously supports H.264 High Profile standard and the AVS standard, not only makes the chip more powerful, but also has the vital significance for the later study of double model or the multi-model video decoder chip. This thesis is aimed to design configurable IP modules for inverse quantization, invese transform and intra prediction ,which should be compatible with H.264 High Profile and AVS standards.This thesis introduces the main feature as well as the decoding framework of the AVS and H.264 High Profile standards, gives the overall structure of dual-model video decoder, exhaustivly illustrates inverse quantization, inverse transform, as well as intra prediction algorithm, and analysiss similarities and differences between the three algorithms of two standards.In addition, according to similarities and differences of algorithms and structure of dual-mode video decoder, inverse quantization, inverse transform and intra prediction modules are designed by the method of software and hardware co-processing. Inverse quantization designment: Proposes a reconfiguration inverse quantization module, which not only realizes the AVS inverse quantification, but also supports the scaling H.264 High Profile inverse quantization. Inverse transform designment: Proposes a hardware circuit structure which can compatible AVS 8×8 inverse transform,H.264 High Profile 8×8 inverse transform and 4×4 inverse transform, it includes a configurable IT computing architecture and 8×8 transpose matrix structure, can correctly process residuals only according to the type-control-signal wire , without the hardware resources waste. Intra prediction designment: Proposes a intra prediction module that supports intra/inter pixel reconstruction, the module shares AVS and H.264 High Profile interface and storage part. H.264 High Profile intra prediction module is designed to support adaptive frame field decoding, which has a configurable computing architecture to support prediction pixels'computition of 26 intra prediction models.Debugg and simulation are carried by the test vectors that get form system hardware C model, and modules pass FPGA verification. For the RTL code, decoding processing cycle is analysised about the three modules. ASIC synthesis, which is based on TSMC 0.13um technology library, is done by Design Complier of Synopsys. The results of simulation and synthesis show that the design can realize real-time HD video decoding of AVS and H.264 High Profile standards.
