The Comparative Research On Mo Zi's Emendation Of Bi Yuan And Sun Yirang

Mohism and Confucianism were known as prominent subjects in the world before the Qin dynasty, But it declined little by little after Western Han and Eastern Han Dynasties. Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang emendated roundly Mozi, full thesis will be divided into five sections to compare systematically Mo Zi's emendation of Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang.In the first chapter, summarize Mo Zi's emendation of Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang. Introduce Mohism and the description and edition of Mo Zi. Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang adopted the system of fifteen volumes and seventy-one chapters among three Mo Zi's systems .Then research the background of Mo Zi's emendation of Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang .Social environment made their academic sights to submit Mohism ; excellent conditions helped them to research Mohism and laid a solid foundation ; Mo Zi corrupted and missed seriously , it made them to research Mohism.The second chapter compares the methods of Mo Zi's emendation of Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang. Compare concretely Bi Yuan's Mo Zi and Sun Yirang's Mo Zi Jian Gu in Dui Jiao, Ben Jiao , Ta Jiao , Li Jiao . Bi Yuan was only on the basis of rare edition when he emendated Mo Zi, Dui Jiao and Ta Jiao was his main methods. Sun Yirang used four methods when he emendated Mo Zi, Li Jiao and Ta Jiao was his main methods.The third chapter analyses the achievements and shortcomings about Mo Zi's emendation of Bi Yuan and Sun Yirang. There were following achievements : Emendated entirely Mo Zi , made all people to read Mo Zi ; Rectified corruptions and omissions , arrange incorrect bamboo slips , made Mo Zi to recover entirely its former appearance ; Examined and corrected sideword line , the period and the comma about Jing ; Corrected the wrong words and incorrect bamboo slips about Art of War . There were some shortcomings in Mo Zi and Mo Zi Jian Gu , there were some uncorrected errors , false emendations and shouldn't emendations in various degrees .The fourth chapter analyses the reasons which leaded to the differences between Bi Yuan's Mo Zi and Sun Yirang's Mo Zi Jian Gu . They used different master and referenced copies. The methods that they emendated Mo Zi were different. The academic basis which they emendated Mo Zi was different and so on.The fifth chapter discusses the effects of Bi Yuan's Mo Zi and Sun Yirang's Mo Zi Jian Gu . The emendations of Bi Yuan's Mo Zi and Sun Yirang's Mo Zi Jian Gu pushed the standard of Mo Zi's emendation to a new height .Promoted the Mo Zi's emendation of descendants .Their diligent and rigorous philosophy attitude when they emendated ancient books become the good example of modern people .And it has certain lessons for the impetuosities of modern academic world.
