With the development of electronic technique, the phenomenon of electromagnetic interference becomes serious, as well as the increasing internationalization of the global trading; the compulsory certification of electromagnetic compatibility is becoming a trend. At present, the products cost high because of the EMC certification testing. In order to save costs and accelerate product time to market, electronic information enterprises have an actual demand for EMC scanner.This paper describes the theories of electromagnetic radiation in PCB boards and the classification of electromagnetic compatibility diagnostic tests. This paper points out the importance and necessity of electromagnetic compatibility diagnostic tests.In the hardware design, this paper designed driver control circuit of stepper motor based on the principleof stepping motor and used 3-axis stepper motor composed of three-dimensional mobile platform. Three-dimension mobile platform take the near-field probe to position accuracy. The platform took Agilent Company's N9020 Spectrum Analyzer as the test receiver, and used USB-GPIB interface card 82357A to realize the communication between the Spectrum Analyzer and PC.In the software design, this paper takes some of the major ideas of object-oriented to programming. This paper use VC++software platform as well as VISA-driven to program EMC automated test systems, in order to achieve hardware and software combination. This paper use VC++ to program electromagnetic information collection, transmission, processing, storage, parameters inputting, results displaying, and integrity preserving the data of electromagnetic information in Excel file. EMC scanner can graphically display the status of electromagnetic radiation that is not visible to see, and the location of radiation sources.
