In contemporary China, the Internet's wide ranging has not only become an important part of media culture, but also a ubiquitous background in our society, increasingly dominating the people's daily lives. The view of cultural study is that media culture provides people the materials to build identity and promotes the formation of the structure of daily life. Therefore, it is not only concerned about media and cultural texts, the production process, but also concerned about the individuals and groups around the text to create their own identity and the realization of the possibility of resistance. Cultural study tends to characterize culture as representation. It interpretates cultural texts in the context of social and historical changes, to reproduce the social discourses of conflict and the struggle. This study selected "70 yards" in the 2009 to observe the event as a text. The medias has set the matter as the main issues for a long time, using textual descriptions, pictures contrast, sound recordings and images to reinforce the opposite images. Therefore,"a rich kid" and "a civilian student" became ID tags affixed to both events. People identified themselves with "civilian" status, while resisted by creating hot word "bully honest horse" and spreading rumors on the Internet. This study also combined with sociological theory, and further revealed that the identity and resistance is rooted in China's political, economic and social reality in this transition period. The media event of'70 yards" is actually injected into people's anxiety and fear.In the end, this study linked the latest events and made a conclusion. To some extent, the network can empower, but the fact is that similar events are produced again and again. It seems that the network can only change the direction of a specific event, but can not fundamentally change the power structure. The real resistance is actually outlet and digested in the network, and thus lose the possibility of change.
