The phenomenon of "sang culture" that rose in 2016 has received some attention of media and academic circles. It has some unique characteristics:no clear access mechanism, high mobility;multi-directionally can be interpreted positively or negatively;deeply promoted by media and commerce;overlapping with other subcultures. However, media has presented some prejudice in reports both in Chinese and English. This paper research into this prejudice and its reasons.Findings are as follows.First, this paper define and conclude characteristics and lacks of Sang Culture. The lack lies in that it deconstructs some of mainstream values through destructive discourses, which are often captured and augmented by media. In order to further verify this view, the author uses the "co-culture" theory to analyze the most widespread sentences collected from social platforms to explore their cultural orientations. It is found that most of the communication strategies of Sang Culture groups for other cultures are“unconfident" and"aggressive ",and the communication results are mostly "assimilation" and"adaptation",that is,the group is not in binary opposition with the mainstream culture, but adapting in resistance, assimilating in deconstruction.Second, this paper selects Chinese and English reports that focus directly on funeral culture,a,analyze their titles, vocabularies, and quotations from the perspective of news comparison, using of discourse analysis theories. It is found that the different media use different material processes and relational processes in titles;and different frequency in adjectives based on their positions;and inclination in quoting discourses from Sang group, other media and interviewees, based on the stereotype of the "resistance" of subcultures. Some foreign media deliberately emphasize the estrangement between Sang Culture and mainstream culture, thus creating opposition;some media focus on its entertainment and commerciality rather than this group itself, losing their humanistic thinking;some media lacks interview materials, data and caused discourse tilt and lack.Prejudice is not due to the amount of positive or negative information in reports, but rather to the use of discourse and whether stereotypes dominate news discourse. This paper finds that journalist lack understanding of Sang Culture and guided by consistent impression on subculture groups. In addition, this group has a core of adaption and assimilation under the surface of resisting and deconstructing, which together lead to invisible prejudice in news discourse.
