EPON_EOC is the popular technology for two-way network transformation and Triple-play. In order to operate the EPON_EOC network correctly, it's necessary to construct an efficient network management system. Most of the EPON and EOC are managed in a relatively independent way, and it can't realize unified management of the EPON_EOC network. In particular, it can't obtain the complete topology of the EPON_EOC network, and network failures cannot be directly displayed in the topology diagram. In this thesis, a kind of topology management system on EPON_EOC network was designed and implemented.Firstly, the EPON_EOC network architecture, SNMP network management protocol and SNMP Development Kit are introduced in details. According to the structure and characteristics of EPON_EOC, the overall project design of topology management subsystem EPON_EOC is proposed. Secondly, on the basis of the overall design, the automatic topology discovery algorithm of the EPON_EOC network and the fault location algorithm based on network topology are detailedly designed. With the guidance of the algorithm, the following three functions are achieved:the whole network topology and the hierarchical network topology of EPON_EOC can be displayed. Besides, network faults can be shown in the topology diagram. And the background database of the system is designed and implemented. Finally, the test platform is built to show the system diagram of the test results, and the system improvements are proposed by analyzing the results. This EPON_EOC topology management subsystem that is designed and implemented in this thesis is fully functional. On the one hand, it can provide convenience for administrators to understand the network topology, on the other hand, it can quickly get the location of the faults based on the network topology and the fault information can be shown in the topology diagram. All of the works in this thesis provide reference value for EPON_EOC management of the network topology.
