Turbo code was first proposed in 1993. It is close to the Shannon limit of code performance. After ten years'research, the reasons for the excellent performance of Turbo code is beginning to emerge. With increasingly sophisticated theoretical foundation, Turbo code began to be practical implemented. Now, it has been used in wireless communication systems such as LTE, WCDMA and WiMAX e.t.c.In this thesis, chapter 1 gives the state of the art of Turbo code and states the encoding and decoding performance of Turbo code.Chapter 2 describes the structures of Turbo Encoder, Decoder and the parallel Decoder, gives a detailed analysis of the component encoder, interleaver, the trellis ending and gives a detailed mathematical derivation of MAP series of decoding algorithms.Chapter 3 describes the design of Turbo encoder and parallel Turbo decoder structure for hardware design, especially gives a detailed analysis of interleaver, trellis ending and parallel code block division plan.Chapter 4 describes the fixed point quantitative parallel decoding algorithm. The simulation results show that this design gets the balance between the decoding performance and hardware resources.Chapter 5 gives a summary and prospect of this thesis.A large number of the simulation results show that the design of hardware implementation proposed in Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 is reasonable and practical.
