Transportation is closely related to human life, in the reform and opening days, the development of technology goes fast, and China's economic and urbanization has achieved tremendous development.Induced the rapid development of the national economy demanded by the new transportation. Meanwhile, the network application has gradually infiltrated into every aspect of our life. It is hoped that in the networked environment, people can get travel guide by accessing to the relevant information.In order to solve the bottleneck that has been restricting the development of traffic, we study the application of semantic web service in traffic information service., for the purpose of using the more intelligent and accurate web service of traffic information, our daily travel will be more convenient.In this paper, Firstly, we study the semantic Web services progressivly, there are eight levels in semantic Web service, including:URI/IRI layer, XML layer, the data exchange layer:RDF, RDF Schema layer:RDFS, ontology layer:OWL, query and rule layer, logic layer and the proof, trust, encryption, and application layer. By comparing the traditional Web services and Semantic Web services, we describe the development of semantic Web service applications systematically.To achieve semantic Web services, we introduce the concept of ontology, and construct the relevant domain ontology according to the ontology model proposed by AIFB of University of Karlsruhe, including transport ontology, date and time ontology, address ontology,ticket ontology, customer ontology and so on.We use the visible Ontology construction tool Protege to generate OWL code and do the ontology management. Establish and save the project, create and name classes, create attributes associated with the class and then create an instance associated with the property. Then use the Web Service Modeling Ontology WSMO to describe Web services. Then we systematically introduced concerned information of WSMO. Such as the design rule, the based tool and web Service modeling language WSML. In the paper we have exampled three web services that based on semantic web service, including train ticket booking service, air ticket booking service and transport hiring service. In the end we described the semantic Web service level target in the match and Web services execution environment indetailed. In this way we have finished a traffic information service system thatbased on semantic web service.
