The marine engine room data acquisition and monitoring system in charge of the operation status data collection and processing for a number of equipment in ship cabin, and through a more intuitive way to display the equipment status of running for ship operators in real time viewing, then to grasp the working condition of ship cabin. This article designs an OPC-based(OLE for process control) data acquisition and monitoring system for marine engine room, the system consists of three parts:the underlying data acquisition hardware in ship cabin, the OPC Data Access Server of ship cabin and the OPC client for ship cabin monitoring. Compared to the traditional forms, the one hand, this system to achieve ship cabin data acquisition card to maximize the use of test points, and saves system development cost. On the other hand, this system overcomes the dependent which software part of traditional forms system depends on the underlying data acquisition hardware in ship cabin, and larger reduced the difficulty of system development and maintaince.In this article based on a careful analysis of the current data acquisition and monitoring system for marine engine room, proposes the program of independent development of data acquisition card and OPC-based monitoring system for marine engine room. Firstly, the design principle of the digital acquisition card used in marine engine room is discussed in detail, and completed its hardware circuit design, PCB production and the development of software drivers of digital acquisition card. Secondly, describe the generation, development and technical basis of OPC technology, and analysis of the OPC Data Access2.04 specification, then proposes the design of OPC-based data access server for marine engine room on this basis, and program it. On the basis of the realization of OPC Data Access Server proposes the design of OPC-based monitoring system for marine engine room, and achieves the connection of monitoring system with the OPC Data Access server in using the asynchronous communication mode.Finally, the joint test of the entire system, including real-time, stability and reliability test of data acquisition card; the communications test of OPC-based data access server for marine engine room with the underlying state data acquisition card; the interaction test of OPC-based data access server with upper OPC-based monitoring client system. The results show that both the operation of the data acquisition card and the communication with OPC-based data access server for marine engine room is reliable. The data which OPC-based monitoring client system get from OPC-based server is accurate. Generally speaking, the design objective of the system has been achieved.
