With the progress of radar technology and the requirement of increasingly complex sea condition, the traditional marine radar technology system which is represented by the pulse magnetron radar has become the bottleneck of the development of marine radar technology. The technology research of new system marine radar such as pulse compression system and FMCW technology system has become the main direction of research and development in the field of marine radar in current and even future period. This paper mainly aims at the analysis and research of the new system marine radar's target detection performance, through the analysis on the characteristics of radar signal, and the research on working principle and technology of target detection, relying the method of simulation, analyzes the new system marine radar in the characteristics of target detection performance from resolution, RMS, SNR loss and signal detection performance etc.The main content of this paper are:Firstly, this paper researches the working principle of traditional pulse radar, and according to the radar equation, analyzes the relationship of radar detection range and SNR in different RCS and different emission signal power. Target detection performance of conventional pulse magnetron radar in pulse accumulation is analyzed through the method of simulation.Secondly, the signal characteristics of pulse compression radar system are analyzed, which are large time-bandwidth signal, radar ambiguity function and several common pulse compression signals. The working principle and target detection performance of pulse compression radar are researched. Under the platform of MATLAB, the detection results for stationary and moving target when transmitting signals with different pulse are simulated, using matched filtering technology, window function technology and MTD technology.Afterwards, the signal characteristics of LFMCW radar system are analyzed, which are symmetrical triangular LFMCW beat signal and its ambiguity function. The working principle and target detection performance of LFMCW radar are researched, and the range-velocity coupled phenomenon is analyzed. The target detection performance of radar is analyzed based on point targets and multi-objective, static targets and moving targets etc.Finally, this paper summarizes and contrasts the target detection performance of the new and old system of marine radar, and then points out the shortage of this thesis, at the same time, gives the direction of further work.The study and result of this paper have given certain characteristics of the new system marine radar's target detection performance, and have some reference value and use value for future research on radar system.
