With the development of modern industrial and scientific technology, modernized mechanical devices developed in a trend towards large-size, automation, high-accuracy, high-efficiency, mechanical-electrical integration, and with ever increased degree of performance and intricacy, ever close relation in between each part, ever high demands for reliability and security on mechanical devices. Consequently, not only main industrial devices need to be monitored, but also auxiliary devices need to be effectively monitored, too. Traditional wired vibration monitoring system has weaknesses of high-cost, high workload in installation, inflexibility etc. In order to overcome these weaknesses and realize online vibration monitoring on auxiliary devices, a set of wireless vibration monitoring system is designed and developed based on wireless sensor network technology.Tool software, such as Protel, Silicon IDE, C++Builder, Access, and so on, is utilized in the design and development of node hardware, node software, monitoring software to build a complete wireless vibration monitoring system. Among others, hardware design includes chosen of elements, design of circuit schematic, design of printed circuit board, and software design of node includes initialization routine, data acquisition routine, wireless transmission and receiving routine, etc.The wireless vibration monitoring system is constituted by multiple monitoring nodes, a sink node and monitoring software, which adopts mesh topology structure. Monitoring nodes are mounted on devices to be monitored to collect vibration data, which is then transmitted to the sink node through radio frequency and then from the sink node to the monitoring computer for storing and managing. The monitoring software presents a user-friendly interface for the user master the condition of the whole monitoring system and the devices. Finally, tests show that the system works reliably, provides accurate and effective data, realizes functions of wireless vibration monitoring, and has the capability to practical application.
