Damage control system plays an extremely important role on the protection of Ship Survivability, and is the most important way to improve the ship damage control which is enhancing the damage control training capabilities of command staff. As low cost, high performance, etc., simulation training system will be an important mean of damage control to improve the commander.The training system based on virtual reality breaks the limitations of the traditional training model, not only increase the interactivity and realism but also enhance the pleasure, which has theoretical research value and wide applications.The thesis generalizes the background and significance of training systems, summarizes the development status of virtual reality technology, and introduces the system development process based on Virtools platform. A damage control training system is designed, including division of blocks, determine of framework and the design of implementation.The methods of building and converting Ship Simulation Model were analyzed in the thesis,and according to frameworks, research on the key technical principles and implementation steps were done. It mainly included studies and implementation of intelligent behavior based on artificial intelligence technology and the AI library of Virtools, data mining research and intelligence score management system, the creation of ship control system, realization of fire and fire extinguishers based on particle system.The system simulates the ship status and character behavior in responding to the disaster, and it tests trainers'abilities of responding to disasters in order to training and evaluating the trainers'damage control capacities in a virtual environment.
