LED display which is a new type of information display medium began to develop gradually in the global scope in the 1980s. LED electronic display is a set of microelectronics technology, computer technology, information processing in one large display system. It gets rapid development and application due to its great angle, high brightness, colorful, long life, high reliability, anti harsh environment and other characteristics. It becomes one kind of incomparable medium in the information display.With high bandwidth, high performance, high reliability, plug and play and many other advantages, PCI bus has got rapid development in the past years.Based on FPGA programmable logic devices, PCI bus technology,8b/10b encoding and decoding technology and combined with high-speed low-voltage differential LVDS data transmission technology, the paper presents a design system solution of an synchronization full-color LED display.The design can be divided into transmission system and receiving control system. Transmission system use a Xilinx VirtexⅡPro FPGA to achieve high-performance PCI-Target controller,8b/10b encoder and LVDS transmit circuits. By using the PCI-Target bus controller receives the image data information, the image data use high-speed low-voltage differential LVDS technology to transmit out when it be encoded by 8b/10b technology.In the receive control system, using an Actel ProASIC3 high-performance FPGA, to achieving 8b/10b decoder function and improved bit weight PWM technology on 24-bit grayscale full-color LED display's algorithm.
