LED display is now, not just a public information release platform, but with thedemand for video advertising increasing day after day, there are more and more LEDdisplay screens in the street as a commercial advertising the publisher. Therefore, themarket demand for flexible small-scale LED display system strongly. So it is meaningfulto to develop a small portable LED display control systemThis paper study on the full color LED display control system with 256 gray scale.Traditional synchronization system use PC as the date source, therefore cannot be movedaround, can only be used in a very limited environment. Asynchronous system has a lot ofresource constraints, therefore the effect of the display is very poor. This paperd give out aLED display system with ARM+FPGA hardware architecture. ARM processors cantransplant operating system, and embedded with the LCD controller, can also realize thegraphical interface system. In this system, use ARM system as a video source, theoperating system can effectively manage the allocation of system resources and can applymulti-tasks. Therefore has higher reliability and running speed. FPGA is used for datareconstruction and grayscale scanning control. Therefore can achieve the improvement ofthe gray-scale control. This system is enhanced to meet demand in the situation whendisplay frequency is high and the rate of dataflow is large.This paper is centred on ARM hardware and software design, and FPGA logicmodule design. Based on the principles of colorimetry, give the analysis of the LEDdisplay driver from the point of hardware, and use 8 field display PWM control methodand 1/16 dynamic scanning control to realize the FPGA logic module design: includingARM interface buffering module、SRAM address writing module、SRAMreading/writing controller module、SRAM address reading module、gray-scale scanningcontrol module. All the modules have been tested through the simulation. The second partis to realize the hardware platform of the ARM system: including the surrounding circuitof the ARM system、the interface circuit to the memory and interface circuit betweenARM and FPGA. Finally, realize the software of ARM system, transplanting the Linuxeoperating system、the bootloader、the driver software of the LCD controller which isemedded in the S3C2410 chip itself . also ,the system give out the realization of the usergraphic interface Qtopia system. The whole system has a better effect to display themultiple-layer image and a quicker speed of data processing; also the system has a better stability, above all , also has a good portability.
