The emergence and development of Science Education Channel,are not only the results of the need to implement the country's "prosperity through science and education" strategy,but also to meet the people's growing needs of education, science, and culture. As a professional TV channel,which is immature in all aspects with short history, requires a certain theory as a guidance. The author has access to relevant document data, finding that domestic and international researches on Science Education Channel are not a lot and there are no scholars researching it from the perspective of media ecology studies. This is also where the value and significance of this study lies.China's media ecology takes media as its center and studies their survival and development environment. This essay analyses the media ecology of Science Education Channel, from the political environment, economic environment, cultural environment, technical environment, audience and advertising environment aspects. The first four aspects constitute the external environment in which Science Education Channel survives and develops,They will restrict or promote the survival and development of the channel.The latter two aspects constitute the most basic elements for its survival in the media ecology. Science education Channel,should make clear its target audience, strive to cultivate the audience market, and turn the potential audience into the reality audience. Advertising revenue is the most important source of income for Science Education Channel. Facing competitive advertising market, Science Education Channel should avoid weaknesses, play to their strengths and strive for greater economic benefits.As a new member of Large family of television channels, Science Education Channel faces the risks of imbalance in the process of development. It shows concretely as follows:Science Education Channel is marginalized and develop unevenly between the areas, the program structure is unbalanced; the fund of channel and talent resources are deficient;resources food chains are cut off; the channel niche overlaps, program homogeneity is serious; public TV and commercial TV contradict,etc.To bring Science Education Channel's ecological imbalances under control,we can take the following strategies:media niche dislocation competition strategy; media ecology interaction strategy; the development of the Homeostasis mechanisms of Science Education Channel.
